I could not level easily in two different spots. By easily I mean with front tires still on ground. Power had an open ground at one site, and low voltage on other one. I would not stop here again for an overnighter as I had to unhook and get out the wood and move sites, etc.
We had a spot in upper section. It is backed by the interstate. It is real noisy. I think it is not worth the money for non Michigan residents. It is almost $50 per night when all is said and done (towing a van).
This place is nice but not so nice as to see it rate constant 10's. It is adjacent to a busy road, 321, not all the sites are level, and their new area, the so called "mountain view" section, is anything but. Some sites were plopped down in a field with no trees. There are numerous campgrounds in this area that rival Twin Creek. Perhaps the best thing going for it is its location, closest campground to Gatlinburg.
Camped here in 2005 while searching for a new home. I thought it was a fantastic campground. Big spots, quiet, level, great WI-FI (which I need to use the MLS each night). After reading some recent reviews, I thought I would drive down the road and take a look again. It hasn't changed; same great place. I think the posters of the recent negative reviews must have been confused about where they were camping.
Real nice looking park but my 30 amp power voltage dropped real low. It was hot. Train noise wasn't too bad but you could hear them come by. Will stop again. Stayed here going north and south this trip.
A hidden gem in the UP. Great views of Lake Superior from the front row. Small hike down the hill to the water. Sites laid out poorly and many not very level (uneven not hilly).
Superb views when you have waterfront site on St. Mary's River. Great for watching Ore Boats. New system of allowing reservations is a great improvement over old system of wait for opening. WIFI has been added. Was real dry and dusty. City needs to put money back into campground with landscaping and trees.
This place exists only because it is the closest thing to Detroit. Had to argue repeatedly with counter person to get a grassy sunny spot instead of being put in the muddy woods. Will stop here only if I have to.
